The New Orleans Hornets take their game into the cyber world by announcing the formal name of their social networking site, Swarm City. It is an online community where every member has at least one thing in common, the New Orleans Hornets.
The site was launched at the beginning of the 2008-09 season. To tip-off participation and activity on the site, the Hornets left it up to the fans to name the social network. After receiving hundreds of ideas, the names were narrowed down to the top five. Swarm City came out on top. To join, fans simply log on to www.swarmcity.com. Registration is free and open to the public. “Swarm City is a new and exciting social outlet for fans from all over the world to interact, network and discuss all things Hornets,” said Matt Biggers, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the New Orleans Hornets. “Swarm City provides a central location for Hornets fans to gather and share thoughts and opinions, while accessing exclusive behind-the-scenes material about the Hornets.” The new website, www.swarmcity.com, allows fans to create their own personal profiles and interact with each other in various ways including video and photo sharing, blogs, chat rooms, private IM’s and public message boards. These exciting features ensure Hornets fans are always “in the know.” Additionally, the team has uploaded behind the scene videos of Hugo, the Honeybees and various press conferences, exclusive for Swarm City members. |
