KENNER, La. (AP) — The current head of the airport at Dayton, Ohio, has been appointed aviation director at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

The airport's governing board selected 44-year-old Iftikhar Ahmad on Wednesday from four finalists. Board chairman Dan Packer says Ahmad has extensive experience in planning and development and financial planning.

Ahmad has been the top aviation official in Dayton since 2006. Prior to that he was a vice president for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. He also worked in various capacities with the agency that oversees Houston Intercontinental and Houston Hobby airports.
