New Orleans is America's favorite place to escape for a wild weekend and antique shopping, according to Travel + Leisure's annual survey of "America's Favorite Cities."
The Big Easy reigned atop 10 categories in the survey, which was conducted over three months and counted 60,000 votes, from local residents and visitors, who were asked what they liked and didn't like about 30 cities across the country.
New Orleans swept the magazine's nightlife categories, besting cities including New York and Los Angeles as the top city for cocktail hour, live music and the singles and bar scene.
New Orleans was also the magazine's readers' top pick for a wild weekend, boutique hotels, antique and vintage shops, cafes, neighborhood dining, people-watching and spring break.
The rankings weren't all good for New Orleans. Of the 30 cities ranked, The Big Easy's residents were considered least athletic. New Orleans was ranked second from bottom in cleanliness, safety and as a family vacation destination.
