An 1860s mansion on Prytania Street in the Garden District will open Feb. 1 as the Henry Howard Hotel, named after the New Orleans architect who built the historic home.
Developers Eric and Kyle Fitzgerald, brothers who live in New York, bought the hotel last year for $2.15 million, according to land records. The property at 2041 Prytania St. previously operated as the Henry Howard House Inn.
The 18-room, Greek revival style mansion underwent a redesign by New York-based Hunter Mabry Design. Rooms have a mix of vintage and custom furniture.
The brothers, whose parents retired to New Orleans, hope to make the Henry Howard Hotel the first in a portfolio for the Fitzgerald Hotel Group, a company spokeswoman said.
Room rates start at $189 nightly.
