Developers looking to build a 200,000-square-foot extended stay hotel that would occupy an entire block of North Rampart Street have been granted a tax break to help move the project forward, but part of that agreement includes local employment benchmarks for both construction and operation of the facility.
The New Orleans Industrial Development Board on Tuesday approved a payment in-lieu of taxes, or PILOT, agreement with HRI Properties, which is planning to build a 207-room Homewood Suites hotel at 317 N. Rampart St. The four-story building will also include a 105-space parking garage.
