NEW ORLEANS (August 28, 2017) - Windsor Court Hotel is celebrating the 47th annual Southern Decadence with a Labor Day weekend of LGBTea events including two afternoons of tea-time cocktails, diversity and drag queen performances. Headlined by Crescent City star Kookie Baker and pianist Ben Childress, the events are new to the hotel's annual series of themed teas and are scheduled Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2 at 12:30pm in Le Salon at Windsor Court. The event costs $75, plus tax and gratuity which includes bottomless mimosas and bloody marys from 12:30-2 pm. Those looking to attend the LGBTea must be 21 and older and reservations are required. To make a reservation, please call (504) 596-4773.

In honor of the long weekend, Windsor Court is also offering the Suite Decadence Package for $650, which includes a two-night stay in a Premium Suite, LGBTea service for two on Saturday or Sunday, and 15 percent discount on spa services. For a Club Level Suite, the price is $870.

Southern Decadence started forty-seven years ago as a simple going-away party but now it’s one of the largest annual festivals in New Orleans, and has become known as the "Gay Mardi Gras."  Festivities usually begin on the Wednesday before Labor Day, and generally end until the following Tuesday.

Attendance in 2017 broke all records, with over 210,000 gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender participants, raking in an estimated $250 million. Recently ranked #2 in Travel + Leisure's list of America's Best Cities for Gay Travel , New Orleans is the perfect city to let the good times roll in.

The biggest day is Sunday, Sept. 2 when the grand marshalls will lead the annual walking parade through the streets beginning at 2 p.m. under this year's theme, "House of Bourbon - Unleash Your Beast.”

Come enjoy the Southern Decadence festivities and don't forget to “unleash your beast!”
