Three New Orleans hotels have been named to Fodor’s Travel list of the best hotels in the world.
The Chloe, Columns and Maison de la Luz are on “The 92 Most Incredible Hotels in the World,” which includes a variety of properties. Twenty-one of those are in the U.S.
Maison de la Luz, developed by The Domain Companies, opened in 2019 at 546 Carondelet St. at the site of a former City Hall annex and law office building, behind Gallier Hall. That same year, renovations began on a former bed-and-breakfast at 4125 St. Charles Ave. to turn it into The Chloe.
Built in 1883 as a private residence, The Columns, located at 3811 St. Charles Ave., was converted into a boarding house during World War I before a local family turned it into a hotel in 1953 and the bar on its porch became popular, its website says. The property was sold in 2019 to hotel developer Jayson Seidman.
