New Orleans-area hotels reported increases in occupancy, average daily rates and revenue per room in April as compared to the same month in 2017.

According to hotel data and analytics specialist STR, occupancy stood at 78.9 percent compared to 73.3 percent in April 2017, a 7.7 percent increase.

The average daily rate was $174.83, a 10.7 percent jump from the same month a year ago.

Revenue per room stood at $137.91, a 19.2 percent increase from a year ago.

STR collects data from hotels in Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, Plaquemines and Orleans parishes for its New Orleans market analysis.
