The Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association Hospitality Education Foundation is a non-profit corporation formed to:

1) create awareness of available hospitality career paths;

2) provide educational and financial support to the secondary and post-secondary institutions offering hospitality programs;

3) sponsor continuing education programs for Association members.

Among other activities, the GNOHLA Hospitality Education Foundation (HEF) awards college scholarships to high school students interested in a career in the hospitality industry and supports the local student chapter of the American Hotel & Lodging Association at the University of New Orleans in many ways,  including providing a $2,500 annual contribution to underwrite travel to the AH&LA Hotel & Restaurant Show, required volunteer activities, and hosting luncheons for the students.

The HEF also provides needed funds to the Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Administration at the University of New Orleans via donations to the UNO HRT Foundation.  Most recent donations amount to $60,000 over the span of two years, with $50,000 allocated to promote enrollment in the School of HRT both nationally and internationally.

The GNOHLA Hospitality Education Foundation also hosts career fairs, as well as a panel presentation to incoming high school students discussing careers in the hotel and lodging industry, and guides the ongoing training of industry employees by providing educational programs and other learning opportunities.
